* Create a new packagegroup-core-device-devel which pulls in everything
that qemu-config used to, with the exception of anjuta-remote-run -
this is unlikely to be widely used
* Move the remainder of qemu-config to distcc-config and allow
DISTCC_HOSTS to be configured via a variable of the same name
* Use SUMMARY instead of DESCRIPTION for single-line description since
DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY if not set

The config.sh lists -fstack-protector but this isn't in LDFLAGS. This
can result in perl compilation failures due to the mismatch. Adding the
flag to LDFLAGS solves makes all the flags consistent and avoids build
failures from missing symbols.
It was also found that the path substitutions made by the sed statement
can conflict with each other and you can end up with $prefix$prefix type
expressions in config.sh-X which can break the build in unusual ways.
This patch anchors the expressions to ensure only true matches are
replaced.

As discussed on the mailing lists, using a suffix to package names is
hard and has lead to many recipes having to do PKGSUFFIX games. Its
looking extremely hard to scale nativesdk much further without hacking
many recipes.
By comparison, using a prefix like multilib does works much better and
doesn't involve "hacking" as many recipes. This change converts nativesdk
to use a prefix using the existing multilib infrastructure.

In a few places, we have scripts which use <rootfs>/var/pseudo for
the pseudo state directory controlling a given filesystem. This
seems possibly risky because it means that stuff running under
qemu or whatnot could wipe out the data being used to handle that
rootfs. Move this to:
<rootfs>/../$(basename_rootfs).pseudo_state
to avoid problems.
This also solves at least one case (not directly hit by yocto's
tree) wherein you could end up trying to remove a rootfs while
pseudo was using a database inside that rootfs, and thus the
remove would fail.

There are conflicts in the native sysroot over the fsck binary. Whilst
providing people with alternatives is good to a point, the source in util-linux
is clearly the copy which is now being maintained and moved forwards which the copy
in e2fsprogs being older and with less features.
The simplest solution is simply to no longer offer this and used the maintained
version from util-linux.

We've removed libblkid from e2fsprogs as it was being provided by util-linux. The blkid
binary is also provided there and providing it within e2fsprogs too, linked against
a different and potentially incompatible library we're likely asking for trouble.
It also leads to inconsistencies in the native sysroot since we don't consistently
get one given provider of blkid (but always the liblibid from util-linux).
To clean this up, fully remove/disable the blkid binary and package.

The -rpath argument would search the host filesystem for libraries,
even when a sysroot was defined. For cross toolchains with targets
compatible with the host architecture this can find incorrect
libraries. Leave -rpath-link unmodified, as build systems in the wild
are already using this to point to host directories.

Libtool may be passed link paths of the form "/usr/lib/../lib", which fool
its detection code into thinking it should be included as an RPATH in

When NO32LIBS = 0, building 32-bit version of pseudo-native and
building on a 64-bit host -- if the build was triggered by a
dependency change on something pseudo uses, the build could fail
due to left over files from the previous build. Fix this by
ensuring we run make distclean (and ignoring any failure codes) to
ensure we start over.

The line 'sed -i "s+${WORKDIR}+${STAGING_INCDIR}+g" tclConfig.sh'
is commented somehow in previous commit, so that TCL_SRC_DIR
point to the tcl workdir which will cause package that use it
fail to configure or compile when the tcl workdir is removed,
so uncomment it back.

On my system (core-image-base, .deb package files), run-postinsts does
not run any scripts due to a failed test in run-postinsts.awk.
As dpkg is not actually installed on target, opkg is identified as the
pkgdir and that is not right...

and it correctly honours the relocation environmental variables.

We had added the --disable-curl to EXTRA_OECONF, but there is an
EXTRA_OECONF_virtclass-nativesdk += "foo", the
"EXTRA_OECONF_virtclass-nativesdk +=" equals to
"EXTRA_OECONF_virtclass-nativesdk =" (the "+" has no effect here), so we
should add the "--disable-curl" to EXTRA_OECONF_virtclass-nativesdk.
And change the "+=" to "=" to not confuse people.

The target sysroot might contain sdt.h but we don't list this in DEPENDS
and shouldn't be referencing it. Unfortunately there is no way to tell
configure this since these tests are uncached and we can't force
a particular value. The only option is therefore to patch this out.

On non-gplv3 builds, gdbm gets built different due to the different version
which triggers a different codepath in python's db support and then hence
triggers an invalid RPATH QA issue. This change extends the appropriate patch
to cover the code paths we need it to cover and avoid adding the problematic
RPATH.

_bsddb module in python 2.7 could be built only with db version
between 4.1 and 4.7. A patch was added to avoid build warning
about this for [YOCTO #1937] but not actually fixed it.
This patch enable _bsddb module be built with db 5.3, and remove
--disable-statistics from the DB5_CONFIG to fix segmentation fault
when using _bsddb module in python.

tclConfig.sh is changed in do_install for cross compile and
is installed to STAGING_BINDIR_CROSS, but if SSTATE_DIR is set
and tcl is from sstage, tclConfig.sh can't be found in
STAGING_BINDIR_CROSS, add ${bindir_crossscripts}/tclConfig.sh
to sysroot stage can fix it.

If we don't do this, a stale limits.h may be detected in STAGING_DIR_TARGET
which would result in a different limits.h getting generated by gcc-cross-initial
that references it. The referenced limits.h will then not get found by eglibc-initial
causing rather strange build failures.
The simplest solution is to create a temporary sysroot containing only the things
gcc-cross-initial should care about and this results in a correct limits.h file
regardless of what else may have been built.

Some patches (disable_goops_optimizations, fix_cross_compilation) don't
seem to be needed anymore. Others (change-install-data-hook, mark-unused-modules)
were updated to work on 2.0.6. Tested by building and running guile under
QEMU with core-image-sato-sdk and also builing guile on MIPS.

Without this set, in the case host=target (which it does for on-target
gcc), the native header directory is set to the target sysroot with
no prefix. This means it would look for sdt.h on the build system
instead of in the target headers and this can lead to build failures
and is host contamination of the build.
The correct fix is to explicitly set the native header directory to
the correct location and then the headers get detected correctly.

In guile meta/Makefile, what install-data-hook do
must be run after install-binSCRIPTS.so it's a exec hook, not a data hook.
If keep these exec-hook in data-hook,when we run make with multi-jobbing ,
install-data-hook and install-binSCRIPTS will be separately
processed in different thread, no any dependence.

This update replaces the half-baked --arch logic with the use
of $CFLAGS to pick compiler flags, on the grounds that it makes
a lot more sense for the build system to pick flags than for
pseudo to try to guess what they should be; this should allow
pseudo to at least compile for targets, and possibly run on
them.
This doesn't solve the problem of guessing how to forcibly
build the 32-bit variant on hosts, because we really don't
have a general solution for that. There's no idiom for "given
this set of compiler flags and this architecture, what flags
would you use to request a 32-bit compile instead?" So we
basically ignore that for now. If someone comes along trying
to use the build system to build pseudo-native on a 64-bit
host that also supports 32-bit binaries and isn't x86, we
will revisit this.

Improve the performance of the RPM backend during do_rootfs by
performing most of the package name to file resolution in a separate
utility written in C, processing the entire list of packages at once
rather than running rpm on the command line which loads the RPM database
for every package.

follow Richard's approach, modify bzip2-native recipe to install bzip2 package
binaries to STAGING_BINDIR_NATIVE/bzip2-native to avoid problems when other
package is doing upack to reference bzip2. libbz2.so* still installs to
STAGING_LIBDIR_NATIVE.
change python-native to depends on bzip2-replacement-native instead of
bzip2-full-native and add EXTRANATIVEPATH for bzip2-native.
Didn't add bzip2native.bbclass as python-native is the only user so far.

Since files installation dirs are DESTDIR/etc/, DESTDIR/sbin etc
in Makefile, not DESTDIR/${sysconfdir}/, DESTDIR/${sbindir}/, for
the native package, a prefix can not be inserted which is needed
when do the next step of install and do_populate_sysroot.
Now we define do_install_virtclass-native in which DESTDIR is
${D}/${STAGING_DIR_NATIVE}

I caught this when running user mode qemu for ppc/e500 applications
which had SPE instructions in them will abort with illegal instruction
error all the time.
The patch is already applied upstream we needed a backport into 0.15.x

The pkg.m4 file should be packaged as part of the base package
instead of the -dev package, it had been in the base package, but
I seemed to have missed that it moved during my PACKAGES reorder,
and this caused the meta-toolchain to break

mtools commands use cp850 as the "mtools_default_codepage", they would
use this to do some coverting tasks.
So, add glibc-gconv-ibm850 to RDEPENDS for mtools commands to run
correctly.
Also add other MSDOS/FAT codepages related packages to RRECOMMENDS.

currently gcc installs a limits.h which references to another
limits.h which it expects from target sysroot and that header
in target sysroot will come from eglibc. So we need to break
this catch-22 and hence we install a self sufficient limits.h
which is then happy when referenced and doesnt complain about
missing limits.h from target sysroot.
This is mostly used when eglibc-initial configure is run

do_package writes out shlibs data and libgcc can depend on the values
there. We therefore need to express the depdency so that sstate can account
for it for example.
Without this a version change in eglibc can "psersist" in the sstate cache
and corrupt builds.

The bb and os modules are always imported so having these extra import calls
are a waste of space/execution time. They also set a bad example for people
copy and pasting code so clean them up.

nasm has a build dependency on groff-native
In one incident, there was a case where nasm-native compile phase failed
with the following:
+troff: can't find `DESC' file
+troff: fatal error: sorry, I can't continue
During this, groff-native was in the sysroot install phase.
To remedy this, adding groff-native in nasm's dependency list.

Many recipes are now having to define PERLPATH and PYTHONPATH variables.
Creating USRBINPATH in bitbake.conf means we can remove all these lines
from the many recipes now needing this and simplify the code changes
needed in each case, reducing the chance of errors being introduced.
Also fixup glib python binary location issue and fix function indentation.

qemu.inc: on older kernel build hosts that have < 2.6.20 which
doesn't support kvm yet, build will fail. Add a check in do_configure

We require git version 1.7.5 or later for the git remote --mirror=xxx syntax.
If we have an older version of git, this patch ensure we build git-replacement-native.
We add an alternative PROVIDES in the same way as tar-native to allow this script
to trigger the build whilst still allowing git-native in ASSUME_PROVIDED.

This patch fixes building this tool in cross environment
It uses tools such as CC, HOST_CC, I386_CC etc.
and as long as you are building native it does not
matter since they all are same namely 'gcc' but
in cross compiling that wont work. So we make the
makefiles and configure scripts aware of that fact
Upstream hosts this program in a svn repo. So change
the SRC_URI to official svn repo. With git we were
checking out a lot more that just mkelfimage which
is not required.
There were unpackaged empty directories too so
we make sure they are removed as well.

Default seems to be to enable GL accelaration so when
gl is not specified in PACKAGECONFIG then add the

If EXTRA_OECONF_FPU is left set, certain ARM variables related to hard-float
can get pulled in and trigger rebuilds of the crosssdk code. The best solution
is to simply force the variable to a known correct value for the SDK targets
currently supported in the same way as TARGET_FPU.
There is some slight rearrangement of the gcc code to ensure the variable is
always used to call the fpu function.

This fixes the issue where gcc invokes the linker with an incorrect -L
library location and gives up because it can't find libraries. It was

install-neon-lib needs libsvn_delta-1.la which will be regenerated
during libsvn_delta-1.la's installation, if libsvn_delta-1.la is
in regenerating and at the same time install-neon-lib links it, the
error willl happen.
The error message is:
/bin/ld: cannot find -lsvn_delta-1
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
This is a parallel issue, so it doesn't happen often.
Note:
The autoreconf doesn't generate build-outputs.mk, it would be generated
by autogen.sh (use build.conf as the input), but autogen.sh isn't
suitable for cross compiling, so both modified build-outputs.mk and
build.conf.

OE-Core revision ffe93e2a099e4cadb1829dc12a58a6d7bef9a5a7 moved opkg's
configuration file into /etc/opkg, and opkg always reads all files under
this directory even if -f is specified (as it is during do_rootfs in
order to specify our own generated config file), and this means that
after opkg-collateral is installed into the rootfs, this version of the
config is used, resulting in opkg ignoring the list of packages it has
already downloaded (since it now sees list_dir as /var/lib/opkg instead
of the default /var/lib/opkg/lists) and thus it fails to install any of
the "attemptonly" packages (including *-dev, *-dbg, etc.).
If we change the -f option to ignore configuration files in /etc/opkg
then we no longer have this problem.

MakeMaker has a bug where it does not propagate CC/LD/etc information
down to subproject it generates Makefiles for... this recipe has has an
Expat subproject which has issues building if we are using sstate-cache
and it will reference the old sysroots and be unable to build properly.
There is an upstream MakeMaker bug for this issue but we can work around
it by fixing up the Makefiles for now

When the length of the tmpdir is longer than 400, there is an error
when run "apt-get update":
Method file has died unexpectedly!
This is because the "char S[1024]" is not enough for long URI, S[2048]

when the tmpdir dir is longer than 220, there is no files saved in
tmp/sysroots/x86_64-linux/var/lib/apt/lists/ after run apt-get update,
this is because apt-get uses the path as the file name, but the file
name can't be longer than 255 according to /usr/include/linux/limits.h.

Needed because the equality check was failing here even though upon
printing the LHS and RHS were the same.
As per http://stackoverflow.com/a/2987975/64537, using "is" compares the

When use PACKAGE_CLASSES = "package_deb", and the length of tmpdir is
longer than 177, the error occurs during the image generation:
/very/long/path/totmp/sysroots/x86_64-linux/usr/bin/dpkg-scanpackages:
bad interpreter: No such file or directory
The interpreter is perl, and it does exist, this is because the first
line:
#!/very/long/path/to/perl
in the script can't be very long.
Create a wrapper for it would fix the problem.

poke into some hardcoded host paths looking for things it shouldn't. Applying
it as part of do_configure wasn't getting it to the do_compile tasks
where much of the configure scripts are run by gcc. This changes it to a simple
export to ensure it reaches the places it needs to and truly gets rid of
the cross compile badness messages from the logs.

archlibexp in the snapshotted config.sh needs to be relative to
staging dir - it gets generated into Config_heavy.pl as one of the
settings and is used by ExtUtils::Embed during the target build.
The substituted setting doesn't make it into the target package
because it's removed by perl_package_preprocess() before packaging.

Things like ExtTools expect to find libperl at the original
(${libdir}/perl/${PV}/CORE/libperl.so) location, so keep it there but
symlink to it for the original (?) reason.

This enables a switch to subversion 1.7 now bitbake is able to cope with
upgrading existing working copies. The impact of this change should be
minimal since we don't have many subversion recipes now.

kconfig-frontends provides the kconfig infrastructure
thats used for linux kernel as a standalone package. Its
not intended to be used for kernel itself but can be
used by packages who are based on kconfig e.g. busybox
uclibc or new packages who wants to use kconfig infra
for the package build
kconfig-frontends names it's shared library as -3.4.0.so instead of .so.3.4.0,
this causes the -dev package to grab it since it matches on *.so. This error
would also have shown up with the old PACKAGE order.

This was needed because on eglibc based builds we did not
define USE_NLS but now we define it in default config to have
a valid value so we do not need this here. Moreover it was
wrong and was not covering all cases of uclibc triplets

patches in 0.15.1 which may not be available
for other qemu's so if someone chooses to remove
gl from PACKAGECONFIG then we dont explicitly
use the --disable-gl-accel option since this
wont be recognised by configure.

If any directory in leading up to your tmp directory has the name "t"
perl will fail to build with a very cryptic error shown below:
pod/buildtoc: no pods at pod/buildtoc line 305.
make[1]: *** [pod/perltoc.pod] Error 255
This is a result of the perl file checking making an assumption
that it is only looking at files and directories with in the perl
source directory. This assumption fails with the way bitbake
sets up perl to properly cross compile.

There would be an "Argument list too long" error when the length of
tmpdir is longer than 190, this is caused by:
headers=`echo $(PLUGIN_HEADERS) | tr ' ' '\012' | sort -u`
The PLUGIN_HEADERS is too long before sort, so the "echo" can't handle
it, use the $(sort list) of GNU make which can handle the too long list
would fix the problem, the header would be short enough after sorted.
The "tr ' ' '\012'" was used for translating the space to "\n", the
$(sort list) doesn't need this.
This doesn't impact the output, so it doesn't need the PR bump.

Currently since configure.in in is in a subdirectory, we don't reautoconf the
recipe. We really need to do this, to update things like the libtool script used
and fix various issues such as those that could creep in if a reautoconf is
triggered for some reason. Since this source only calls AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE to gain the
PACKAGE and VERSION definitions and that macro now errors if Makefile.am doesn't
exist, we need to add these definitions manually.
These changes avoid failures like:

Beside upreving RPM, add necessary integration patches to libzypp.
Also change the configuration of RPM to support PACKAGECONFIG flags.
RPM is highly configurable, the default configuration is good for
minimal OE-Core use.

We need to check target to be arm before enabling hard-float
ABI. There are crossdk targets or candian-cross targets built
for arm and we should not enable it for those class of recipes.

This patch had a little problem, it made a infinite loop:
for (K = CmdL.FileList + 1; *K != 0; J++)
But the value of "K" will nerver change, so the apt-get hangs, revert
this patch first, and will fix the problem in another patch.

Add an PACKAGECONFIG in qemu to disable GL acceleration:
* By default configure try best to enable GL acceleration and fail when missing
host dependency(libSDL and libGL).
* End user can also choose to turn off GL capability, thus remove the host
dependence in building.

There was no explicit path in FILESPATH for this recipe to allow it to
find files referred to in SRC_URI (files shared with the standard opkg
recipe). This problem may have been masked by the fetcher behaviour of
looking for files last in DL_DIR, thus if opkg has been fetched
beforehand there would have been no error.

This is disabled by default to ensure a deterministic build, qemu
configure would sometimes detect the libjpeg and then enable this.

While building libtool, the libtool script itself will be regenerated
because OE modifies a dependency[1]. With -jX, this operation (-->
removal, creation of non-x file, 'chmod a+x') can happen at a time when
the script is going to be executed. This can cause errors like:

There is a bug if we:
1) bitbake diffutils with MACHINE=crownbay
2) bitbake diffutils with MACHINE=qemux86
3) bitbake core-image-sato with MACHINE=crownbay
Then the diffutils.i586 would be installed to the crownbay's image, this
is because diffutils.i586 is newer than diffutils.core2, and rpm doesn't
respect to the arch priorities:
We have put the archs in order in _solve_dbpath:
crownbay/solvedb:core2/solvedb:i586/solvedb:all/solvedb
Fix rpm to respect to the order, for example, if it finds a pkg in both
core2/ and i586/, and the core2/ comes first, it should not use the one
in i586/ even if it's build time is newer.
Note: Don't worry about the _free(*ptr), it can check whether ptr is
NULL or not.
This is for the denzil branch, and the master branch also needs it.

Removed all patches, they've been integrated upstream. :)
Added --disable-doc-build to prevent creation of docs, which
otherwise fails with the following configure error:
could not find xmlto; set XMLTO or consider --disable-doc-build
Removed configure_prepend step that was deleting the m4/ directory,
since some macros needed for the build are defined there, and I've
not encountered any problems with keeping them there in my testing.

uclibc has recently got posix_spawn implementation
and the implementation resided in librt so we link
-lrt to get the configure tests using uclibc provided
definitions and not the gnu-lib wrappers

the builddir is put in front of the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, causing dynamically
linking of target library with native tclsh.
Fix this behavior to cross build tcl correctly.
This issue got exposed when eglibc-2.15 was configured for the target.

This should help in speeding up compilation at the expense
of a bit less info when gcc ICEs but we dont get many gcc
ICEs and therefore using --enable-checking=release is
right balance

This is needed for adjusting meta-linaro where linaro
gcc recipes leverage the core recipe infrastructure and
modifies minimal to keep compatibility with OE-Core
so that any changes in OE-Core gcc recipes does not
trigger changes in meta-linaro.

this option by default points to /usr/local no matter
what so we cant let it sit on sidelines otherwise it
will access host machine's /usr/local which may not
be desired. So disable this option. This also helps in making
gcc's shared state more consistent

Currently we stash the libgcc install tree and then reuse that
to populate libgcc recipe later. This mechanism does not work
for gcc 4.7/trunk since now libstdc++ needs access to build tree
of libgcc. This patch stashes the gcc-cross build tree
and then reuses this in libgcc as well as in gcc-runtime
recipe builds.
Now we build libgcc in the libgcc recipe instead of just
using the prebuilt install tree
core-image-minimal build/run tested on all qemu machines

When building gcc-cross-canadian libgcc is built using
headers from gcc-crosssdk and not the target sysroot
because we do not pass proper CFLAGS for target bits
so it ends up using CFLAGS that were meant for compiling
canadian gcc itself. It does not show up as a problem
when building SDK with eglibc because eglibc-nativesdk
and eglibc have identical headers. The problem shows
up clearly when you try to build uclibc based meta-toolchain
since then nativesdk libc and target libc are different

While building on distros like fedora17, which has /bin/perl,
the target perl scripts get perl path also as /bin/perl.
And that is not correction path of perl on the target.
This commit avoids this error.

python should search for db.h in inc_dirs and not in a hardcoded path.
If db.h is found but HASHVERSION is not 2 we avoid a warning by not.

This patch was added for 64bit host machines. In the compile process python
is checking if platform is a 64bit platform using sys.maxint which is the host's
value. The patch fixes this issue so that python would check if TARGET machine
is 64bit not the HOST machine. In this way will have "dl" and "imageop" modules
built if HOST machine is 64bit but the target machine is 32bit.

Backport a fix from 1.16.x upstream to use fd instead of stream-based
I/O in dpkg-deb, which avoids the use of fflush() on an input stream
(the behaviour of which is undefined by POSIX, and appears to have
changed in the version of glibc introduced in Fedora 16 and presumably
other systems).
Fixes [YOCTO #1858].
